Abstract

This research aims to describe the social skills of elementary school students as an important aspect of implementing the 2013 curriculum with a scientific approach. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. This research applies purposive sampling as a sampling technique. The number of informants in this research was 20 students in 3 different elementary schools. The elementary schools include Sekolah Dasar Negeri Sonorejo 01, SD N Bekonang 1, and Sekolah Dasar Negeri Kemasan 01. Data collection techniques used by the researcher include observation and documentation. The data were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing techniques. The results show that 7 students (35%) have a good mastery of social skills. Meanwhile, 13 students (65%) were not good at mastering social skills in class. The data imply that the social skills of elementary school students are still low, which influences the implementation of the scientific approach to be un-optimal in the 2013 curriculum.
